Two quick things I wanted to share …
We received this poem and thank you in the mail before we left on our 5 day road trip from a grateful convert on her 10 year anniversary and a picture of “President Collins” made by another family member with a rather striking likeness don’t you agree? Some gratitude such as this is not earned, we simply receive it by virtue of our calling…
Other gratitude comes by virtue of the spirit. After driving several hours in preparation to resume interviews again tomorrow, we arrived at our hotel and the sweetest little gentleman helped check us in. ( Stanley) As I looked into his deep hazel eyes and heard the suppressed click of his home country’s accent, I could picture him far more comfortable in bare feet and tribal clothing than the tight collar of his pressed white shirt he wore tucked neatly in his uniformed pants.
As he looked back at us with his giant smile, he stepped around the end of the counter to stand in front of us and in his most formal stance and broken English he presented himself before us and said, “As you stand before me, I hear myself say to myself…these are good people! I feel I must treat you with much due respect.”
Of course we were touched and thanked him, but he continued, “No, no I thank you! I don’t know what is happen, but the world is forgot-ten much kindness and goodness.” You has made my day so very happy. I feel your goodness.”
We spoke a few minutes more to this wonderfully gracious man that we are all children of the same God to which he excitedly agreed and said he wanted to weep. I just wanted to wrap him in my arms.
